iPhone 6, Is it right for you?

I received my iPhone 6 the Monday after they shipped,  so I have had some time now to evaluate how well it works for me. Now before I go on I need to say something about iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 plus.  I bought the iPhone 6 but i'm still not sure which one is right for me.  I'm 69 years old and screen real estate is important when you need a larger text size. I need to balance that with the habit of wearing my phones in a hip leather case.  The 6 plus is so large that it looks ridiculous in a hip case, in my opinion.  So I would have to carry it in a pocket.  That was my decision factor in choosing the smaller iPhone 6.
This past year I have carried an iPhone 5s and I have loved it.  During the year I tried son Android phones for a short time and kept coming back to the 5s.  Its ease of use and uncluttered menus were the right choice for me and I think for seniors in general. However I also have a iPad mini and used it a lot because of the iPhone 5s's small screen size.
The iPhone 6 is a very good ballence between ease of carry and usability vs screen size.  I love the fact that I can leave the iPad home and do everything that I need on the iPhone 6.  I can size the type to my needs and still have plenty of screen.  This is a phone that I highly recommend to seniors.

iPhone 5s! What do I think?

I like to have the latest technology and I don't care if its Apple, Htc or Samsung.  I just want the latest and greatest.  It's one of my hobbies and I'm willing to pay for it.  Now I'm 68 years old so I'm not likely to wait in an Apple store line.  I just pay someone else to wait in line.

I sold my Samsung Galaxy S4 on e-Bay last week to make room for my iPhone 5s.  I loved my S4 and think its a great phone and by the price someone paid for it on e-Bay they think so too. I have discovered that you can be an early adopter of technology, use it for a while and sell it on line, and lose very little money.

So, what do I think?  I received my iPhone on Friday morning by FedEx. I'm writing this blog on Saturday morning, so this is my 24 hour experience.  Set up was easy, I had an iPhone 5 before the S4.  I gave the iPhone 5 to my wife but I had backed it up on iTunes.  I just downloaded the back up and I was where I left off.  IOS7 wanted to do an update and then I was ready to go.  Apple has done a great job on IOS7.  They have borrowed a few things from android and improved them.  I found no trouble in navigation the new system, it was very intuitive.

I must admit that it took a little adjustment for me to get used to the smaller screen on the iPhone 5s. I was used to a Galaxy S4 which is quite a bit larger.  However I like the carry size of the 5s, it just fits every where I want to put it.  My eyes have adjusted and i am enjoying the IOS7 iPhone 5s experience.

I am not a fanboy of any platform and have enjoyed using many iPhones and Android phones.  So with that background I'm solidly recommending the iPhone 5s.  You will see faster speeds, upgraded camera, better operating system and ease of use due to the fingerprint scanner.  Speaking of the fingerprint scanner, it has worked flawlessly and is very fast.  Just rest your finger on the home button for an instant and your in without a password.  It's a great feature.

I love this phone and operating system, at least until the next greatest phone comes out.
